ABOUT US
Our passion for bison started with the desire to eat healthy meats and to know where our food was coming from. We learned that bison is a lean protein that is nutrient dense but also tastes good and is easy to prepare. Over time we became more interested in the history of bison and how the natural behavior of a bison herd is beneficial for the environment. After a career move landed us in Kansas, we purchased our own piece of land in the Flint Hills and began our journey into regenerative ranching and bringing grass fed bison meat to your table.
OUR BISON
Our bison are 100% grass fed with no hormones. We tailor our herd health program for what our animals need without taking a one size fits all approach. Two important components we have incorporated are rotational grazing and low stress handling.
The Flint Hills provide our herd with nutrient dense native grasses. The tallgrass prairie supplies our bison with Big and Little Bluestem, Switchgrass and Indian grass, as well as an abundant supply of herbaceous plants. The presence of bison encourages native grass growth by propagation as well as diversifying birds, insects and other native prairie wildlife.
We field harvest our animals ourselves in the pasture in which they live their life. They stay with the herd until their very last breath. Bison are ritualistic creatures and the entire end of life process includes the whole herd. We believe this is the best way to honor what bison have brought to humans for hundreds of years.
